Our GCSE English Online Booster Course is a focused, high-impact revision programme designed specifically for students preparing for the AQA GCSE English Literature examination.

WEEK 1 – Macbeth (Shakespeare)

  • Plot recap (Acts 1–5)
  • Tragic hero & ambition
  • Lady Macbeth, gender roles & guilt imagery
  • Divine Right of Kings & Jacobean context
  • Imagery and method analysis
  • Timed paragraph and essay practice


Focus: Strong AO1 argument + detailed AO2 language analysis.


WEEK 2 – A Christmas Carol & An Inspector Calls

A Christmas Carol

  • Victorian context & Dickens’ purpose
  • Scrooge’s transformation & redemption
  • Symbolism (Ghosts, Cratchits, Ignorance & Want)
  • Extract-based responses

An Inspector Calls

  • 1912 vs 1945 context
  • Responsibility & generational divide
  • Capitalism vs socialism
  • Stagecraft & dramatic irony
  • Timed character comparison writing


Focus: Embedding context naturally and analysing writer’s intention.


WEEK 3 – Power & Conflict Poetry

  • Major themes: power, war, nature, memory
  • Key poems including Ozymandias, London, My Last Duchess, Exposure, Remains, Kamikaze, Bayonet Charge
  • Clear comparison structure
  • Structural techniques (volta, enjambment, cyclical form)
  • Timed 30-minute comparison essays


Focus: Confident poetry comparison with precise terminology.


WEEK 4 – Unseen Poetry & Full Exam Mastery

  • 5-step unseen poetry method
  • Fast comparison strategies
  • Universal paragraph structure for all texts
  • Grade 8–9 techniques (alternative interpretations & thematic links)
  • Mock Paper 1 & Paper 2 practice
  • Detailed correction and feedback sessions


Focus: Speed, technical accuracy, and exam timing strategy.


Homework & Practice Structure


After Every Class:

Weekly:
